Journey 04 / Bacalar, Mexico

Bacalar — Where Life Slowed Down

After days of exploring the Maya world, we arrived in Bacalar ready to slow down. Hidden among the trees beside the breathtaking Lagoon of Seven Colors, we discovered Casa Lamat. A peaceful eco-retreat where nature, simplicity and genuine human connection came together.

Finding stillness

Our mornings began with sunrise yoga, breathwork, meditation and sound healing overlooking the lagoon. We experienced a deeply moving massage with Seren, spent afternoons kayaking across turquoise waters and rediscovered the simple joy of doing absolutely nothing.

Letting go

At Los Rápidos, we floated effortlessly with the current, reminded that sometimes life becomes easier when we stop resisting and allow ourselves to flow.

Celebrating Eden

But Bacalar also held a deeply meaningful moment: Eden’s birthday. We welcomed the sunrise with him in our hearts and celebrated his life with pancakes, candles, songs, laughter and beautiful memories. Although we missed him more than words can describe, the day was filled with love and gratitude. Another reminder that grief and joy can exist side by side.

Meaningful connections

What made Bacalar truly special, however, were the people we met. Conversations with Xavy and Luna, the beautiful souls behind Casa Lamat, grew into meaningful exchanges about life, consciousness, nature and personal growth. What began as a peaceful stay slowly turned into the possibility of a future collaboration, perhaps even organizing retreats together.

Sometimes the most meaningful journeys aren’t about the places we discover, but about the people we meet and what they awaken within us.
